Baltimore, MD, July 3, 2018 – Adams Natural Resources Fund, Inc. (PEO) announces, that after 21 years with the Company, and its sister fund, Adams Diversified Equity Fund, Inc. (ADX), Lawrence (Laurie) Hooper, Jr. has retired. He served as Adams Funds’ General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since 1997, and as Chief Compliance Officer since 2005. He was also a member of the Funds’ Management Committee.
Before joining Adams Funds, he was a Partner at Tydings & Rosenberg and before that was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Maryland. Earlier in his career he was an Associate Attorney at Holland & Hart in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Hooper received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Maryland’s School of Law. He is a member of the Colorado and Maryland state bar associations. He is also a founding member of the Closed-end Fund Association and was an active representative of Adams Funds within the Investment Company Institute (ICI).
The Fund also announces that Janis Kerns, Assistant General Counsel, has been appointed General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer, effective July 3, 2018. Ms. Kerns joined Adams Funds in January 2018 with over 23 years of experience representing the investment management industry.
